Ethan Holien
Chief Executive Officer

Ethan Holien brings more than 13 years of sales, marketing, and executive management experience to his role as Format Dynamics’ CEO. Mr. Holien is responsible for leading Format Dynamics’ high-growth go-to-market strategy that includes the development and promotion of unique new advertising forms that truly integrate the best of online and offline advertising.

As VP of Client Management for Millennium Venture Group, Mr. Holien managed relationships with multi-billion dollar coffee and wireless clients, and was a key member of the executive team that grew the company from five to sixty people.  While earning his MBA Mr. Holien led a team in the development of an award winning business in online payments, and also focused on the assessment and development of new Internet business models and strategies at the investment fund iBelay.

Mr. Holien received a BA in Economics and Japanese and later, an MBA from the University of Colorado.


Andy Pai
Chief Technology Officer

Andy Pai manages the strategy and operations of Format Dynamics' products and platform as the company's Chief Technology Officer. Andy's experience in internet-based CRM products, enterprise software operations and managing teams gives Format Dynamics a true advantage in intellectual capital. Andy began working with Format Dynamics in 2004, and was part of the initial management team.

Prior to Format Dynamics, Andy was President of Epigram Technologies, Inc. where he provided consulting for Web 2.0 technologies to Fortune 500 customers. Prior to Epigram, Andy led product development teams at Quris, Inc. and U S WEST Advanced Technologies.

Andy received undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics, and is currently pursuing his MBA at the University of Colorado, Boulder.


Colin Mitchell
Vice President, Sales and Business Development

Colin is directly responsible for building Format Dynamics' PrintNetworkTM, developing revenue generation efforts and managing the day-to-day operations of the company's sales efforts. Mr. Mitchell will leverage his 15 years of experience in both advertising and leadership garnered from top positions at Eyeblaster, where he built a publisher network, CNET Networks, Atlas (acquired by Microsoft Corporation), Wells Fargo and Crunchy Technologies. His experience ranges from developing strategic relationships to selling value propositions, developing sales processes and procedures, forecasting revenue and leading teams to exceed quotas.

Mr. Mitchell received a law degree from Benjamin N. Cardoza Law School in New York, NY, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Kirk McDonald

Kirk McDonald is a seasoned digital media executive and skilled business leader.  He’s currently the SVP of Sales, Marketing and Services for Atlas Solutions and DRIVEpm.  In his role, Mr. McDonald oversees all facets of the client sales and service process, sales operations and is fully involved in shaping the business’ strategy and direction.

Prior to DRIVEpm, McDonald spent nine years in senior leadership positions with CNET Networks, Inc. Most recently, McDonald was senior vice president, network sales, where he was responsible for collaborating across all CNET business units to drive and maximize the revenue growth and profitability of CNET's Consumer Division. Earlier, he was vice president, network sales for CNET's global team, successfully leading the company’s commercial sales strategy to large accounts; and regional vice president, east, increasing company revenue by establishing and developing relationships with agencies and clients in the East and Midwest regions; as well as leading recruitment strategies and being a visible leader in the industry and for the teams on the East Coast.  

Prior to CNET, Mr. McDonald worked with publishing leaders Ziff-Davis Publishing Media Company, a leading integrated media company serving the technology and videogame markets, and Condé Nast Publications, owned by parent Advance Publications, the publisher of one of the most recognizable magazine portfolios in the industry, including fashion magazines Allure and Vogue, as well as cybermag Wired.


Eric Kirby

Eric Kirby serves as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Merkle Interactive.  Merkle is one of the nation’s largest providers of data-driven marketing solutions that enable large organizations to maximize results from their marketing investments. Previously, Kirby served as an executive at DoubleClick where he held the positions of Senior Vice President and General Manager of Email Solutions as well as Vice President and General Manager of Strategic Services.

Kirby has also successfully co-founded two online marketing technology firms, Veripost and Assurance Systems, both of which were later acquired by Return Path. Prior to founding Veripost, Mr. Kirby served in a number of leadership roles in the marketing industry including Director of Marketing at Worldprints.com, a successful startup that was acquired by Excite@Home. He was also Vice President of Interactive Services at Brierley+Partners, a leading loyalty-marketing agency.  Kirby holds a B.S. from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.


Doug Johnson

Doug Johnson leveraged a BSEE and MBA into a 30+ year career of building High Tech businesses inside of large corporations. Mr Johnson's experiences include executive management, product development, marketing, and manufacturing in the semiconductor, computer hardware, software, and internet domains. In 2002, Mr Johnson left behind the large corporate scene and has successfully started three businesses and two not-for-profit organizations, taught entrepreneurship at a local university for three years, and managed the Fort Collins Technology Incubator for six months.

Advisory Board

Kirk Holland, General Partner, Vista Ventures

Kirk has broad operating experience in business development, sales and marketing, engineering, and operations with companies such as Procter & Gamble and Sprint Corporation. He was also an investment banker in U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray's Internet and Enterprise Software Group, where he was involved in equity offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Most recently, Kirk was a Vice President at internet.com Venture Funds, where he led several software and information technology investments. Kirk received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington and an MBA from Stanford University.
